We only collect the minimum amount of information necessary to fulfill our mission and provide our services. This might include:

Volunteer Information: Email or messaging app username when you sign up for updates.

Donation Information: If you donate, we collect information required to process the donation and comply with Pennsylvania law.

Technical Data: We collect basic technical information such as your IP address to help prevent fraud.

Program Information: We collect information to fulfill our mission. For example, if you apply for cash relief, you might need to provide your phone, Cashapp handle, or other personal information to help us verify you’re not a scammer. We retain some of this information to follow tax laws. We delete information when it’s no longer relevant.

If you don’t feel comfortable sharing information with us, you’re always welcome to reach out and we can try to find a workaround to share less information.

SMS Texting Information: We only send you the SMS messages you’ve opted in to receive, and would never spam our members. For example, if you apply for cash relief, we might text you to follow up on your application. We also might send invitations to upcoming events that are directly relevant to you. We never share mobile information with third parties for marketing purposes. You can opt out SMS messages by replying “STOP” to any message we send you, or send “HELP” for help.

How We Share Your Information

We never sell, rent, or trade information.

We only share your information with trusted service providers for the purposes of essential service. For example, to send you a text, we need to share your phone # with our phone company. Mobile information is not transferred or shared with any external organizations except when needed to deliver the SMS service, and never for marketing.

We never share consumer data for marketing.

We sometimes share information to comply with legal requirements (like those related to taxes or nonprofit regulation).

If we were ever subpoenaed for member information, we would try to take any possible legal and public measures to oppose that invasive sharing.

Data Security

We implement reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access. We maintain administrative, technical, and physical controls to prevent unauthorized access, use, or sharing of personal data.

Terms & Conditions of SMS

In order to send SMS messages to our community, we are required to provide you this information:

1. Program Description
   By opting into the SWOON Alliance SMS program, you agree to receive text messages regarding social service coordination, event opportunities, and administrative updates related to our mission. These messages are intended to provide timely support and information to our community in Western Pennsylvania.
2. Non-Marketing Intent
   SWOON Alliance does not use text messaging for telemarketing, promotional advertisements, or the sale of goods/services. Message frequency will vary based on your interaction with our programs (e.g., direct coordination with a volunteer or staff member).
3. Opt-Out & Support
   You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text “STOP” to our number. After you send the SMS message “STOP” to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time. For help, text “HELP” or contact us at “team at swoonalliance.org”.
4. Carriers & Rates
   As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
5. Privacy
   We value your privacy. Your consent to receive SMS messages is used strictly for internal programmatic communication. We do not share, sell, or rent your mobile information to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
